Description
Scandic Hotels is a leading Scandinavian hotel chain based in Stockholm, Sweden which has over 130 hotels in 10 countries.
As part of a restructuring after the purchase of the chain from Hilton by a Swedish investment group, the website was being completely redesigned and migrated to new content management system. Site content is presented in Danish, Finnish, Norweigan, Swedish, and English.
My role on the project was to direct the visual portion of the redesign as well as the creation of information architecture for the hotel profile portion of the site. I was well suited for this project given my experience in designing for content management systems and multilingual audiences on past projects.
My design directions were the result of brand research and application, client consultation, and requirements-gathering workshops. They include not simply visual directions, but functional solutions to the challenge of presenting dynamic content in multiple languages within a structure that allows for multiple stakeholders to publish and modify content without jeopardizing the consistency and quality of the visual presentation of the content.
