Description

Associated Press is one of the largest and oldest news organizations in existence. AP operates as a not-for-profit cooperative with more than 4,000 employees working in more than 240 worldwide bureaus. AP is owned by its 1,500 U.S. daily newspaper members. They elect a board of directors that directs the cooperative. AP Video Archive creates raw news footage for use by some of the worlds most recognized news organizations, as well as documentary and entertainment film makers and television producers. The Archive contains various collections reaching back to the beginning of the 20th century.

As part of a larger series of projects for Associated Press my team and I created a comprehensive redesign of the functionality, interaction, and visual design of the AP Video Archive. As the user experience lead on the project, I was responsible for the quality and consistency of all of the deliverables our team created and was solely responsible for the visual design of the application. The project included a preliminary user research phase, requirements gathering, collaborative design sessions with subject matter experts, prototype creation, and user testing. The final deliverables included visual design comps, annotated information architecture wireframes outlining all interaction behaviors, and detailed use cases with technical specifications for the development of the application. The application is currently under development.
